David Pedulla is the director of SCANCOR at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University for the 2025–2026 academic year.He received his Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Princeton University. His research agenda examines the consequences of nonstandard, contingent, and precarious employment for workers’ social and economic outcomes as well as the processes leading to race and gender labor market stratification. His research also explores bias and discrimination in the hiring process, the ways that organizations produce and reproduce inequality, and how job search behavior is influenced by key social processes, such as networks. He was previously a member of the faculty of Stanford University and the University of Texas at Austin.
In 2020, David Pedulla published “Making the Cut: Hiring Decisions, Bias, and the Consequences of Nonstandard, Mismatched, and Precarious Employment” with Princeton University Press.
Research interests: The processes and mechanisms that generate race and gender labor market stratification.
