Eero Vaara (Ph.D. Econ) is a Professor of Organization and Management at Aalto University School of Business, Helsinki, Finland. He is a permanent Visiting Professor at EMLYON Business School, France, and a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Lancaster University, UK. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Copenhagen Business School, Jyväskylä University and Lappeenranta University of Technology.

He has previously served as the Chair of European Group of Organizational Studies (EGOS) and as representative-at-large of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Management. In addition to SCANCOR, he is a board member in the European Institute for Advanced Studies of Management (EIASM).

His research interests focus on organizational, strategic and institutional change, strategic practices and processes, multinational corporations and globalization, management history, management education, and methodological and philosophical issues. He is well known for his work on discursive and narrative approaches. His research has been published in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Annals; the Academy of Management Journal; the Academy of Management Learning and Education; the Academy of Management Review; the British Journal of Management; Gender, Work and Organization; Human Relations; the Journal of Business Venturing; the Journal of International Business Studies; the Journal of Management Inquiry; the Journal of Management Studies; Organization; Organization Science; Organization Studies; the Scandinavian Journal of Management; Strategic Management Journal; and Strategic Organization. He has also authored books and edited volumes (e.g., the Cambridge Handbook of Strategy as Practice 2010/2015 and Language and Communication at Work: Discourse, Narrativity and Organizing 2014). He has received several awards for his contributions,  including the first Roland Calori Prize for the Best Paper published in Organization Studies. He has received an honorary doctorate from Estonian Business School, and he is a member of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters.

He is now serving on the Editorial Board of Academy of Management Discoveries, Organization Studies, Organization, Nordiske Organisasjonsstudier, Scandinavian Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal and Strategic Organization. He has also been a guest editor for special issues (e.g., SI on strategy and discourse in JMS in 2004, and STF on communication, cognition and institutions in AMR 1/2015).
